The Barn didn’t begin as a shop. It began as something far simpler.

Built in the early 1950s by Tineke’s grandfather for storing grain, it wasn’t designed to be beautiful or noticed—only to last, and to serve a purpose.

For years, it was simply “the barn.”

As part of the fourth generation on the family farm, Tineke always felt drawn to it -  with a quiet sense that it still had more to offer.

A new chapter begins

In 2013, that sense took shape. The Barn became home to Pretty Kiwi, Tineke’s handmade children’s clothing label. Those early days were shaped as much by family as by business, with her nana often close by, helping and encouraging.

The start of a partnership

Tineke met Amie, founder of Lusso Boutique, while setting up neighbouring stalls at the Remarkables Market. Week after week, they built their businesses side by side—early mornings, loyal customers and plenty of laughs.

Amie moved Lusso Boutique into The Barn, and the space began to evolve. Two distinct brands, one shared home—connected by a similar eye for design and a shared appreciation for thoughtfully made, beautiful things.

More than a shop

There was always a sense it could become something more. Not just a place to visit for what was there, but for how it felt to be there. Over time, Tineke and her brother grew that idea into what is now Country Lane Artisan Village - a collection of restored farm sheds and heritage buildings, creating a space for other small, independent businesses to thrive.

The Barn remains the heart of where it all began.

Where they are now

In 2026, it felt right to bring everything together. The Barn 2026 Ltd was formed, combining their two worlds into one carefully curated space.

Today, The Barn reflects both of them — Tineke’s love of handmade, heritage and storytelling sits alongside Amie’s background in graphic design, styling and her instinct for sourcing pieces that are both beautiful and lasting. Together, they’ve created a space that feels thoughtful, relaxed, and a little bit unexpected.

A place to discover

The Barn has always been shaped by time—by the people who’ve passed through it, and the ideas that have grown within it.

Today, it’s a place to find something meaningful. A thoughtful gift. Something for a new arrival or growing family. A piece for your home. Something you didn’t know you were looking for.

They hope that when you visit, it feels a little like coming home.
